Summary: GIMP could be made to crash or run programs as your login if it opened a
specially crafted file.
It was discovered that GIMP incorrectly handled malformed XWD files. If a
user were tricked into opening a specially crafted XWD file, an attacker
could cause GIMP to crash, or possibly execute arbitrary code with the
user's privileges.
Instructions: In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.

A stack-based buffer overflow flaw was found in the way GIMP, the GNU Image Manipulation Program, performed loading of certain X Window System (XWD) image dumps. A remote attacker could provide a specially-crafted XWD format image file that, when processed, would lead to gimp XWD plug-in crash or, potentially, arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the user running the gimp executable.
