  • Monitor for directory traversal sequences in HTTP requests targeting the NUUO CMS file download functionality, which can be used to retrieve files outside the intended installation directory.
  • Alert on requests for CMServer.cfg or ServerConfig.cfg from the NUUO CMS server, as these files contain sensitive credentials and are targeted by exploitation of this vulnerability.
  • Detect session token guessing/brute-force attempts against NUUO CMS, as the exploit module can use a guessed session number to authenticate before performing file download.
  • ·All NUUO CMS versions up to and including 3.5 are confirmed vulnerable, broader than the NVD-stated scope of 3.3 and prior.
  • ·The .cfg credential files are zip-encrypted and cannot be decrypted programmatically via Metasploit; manual extraction with the default ZIP password is required.
  • ·Exploitation requires authentication, but the attacker can leverage default credentials or a guessed session token to satisfy this requirement.
