  • Monitor POST requests to the Progress.aspx endpoint for anomalous or oversized CSRFTOKEN parameter values, which may contain URL-encoded, base64-encoded ysoserial.net deserialization payloads.
  • Alert on authenticated requests to /sitecore/shell/~/xaml/Sitecore.Shell.Applications.Dialogs.Progress.aspx where the CSRFTOKEN parameter contains base64-encoded binary data inconsistent with a legitimate CSRF token.
  • Exploitation requires an authenticated session to the Sitecore Admin section; correlate suspicious deserialization activity with admin-level authenticated sessions.
  • Trigger condition is the Serialize users or domains action in the admin UI — monitor for unusual or repeated invocations of these admin functions followed by outbound OS command execution.
  • ·Exploit requires authenticated access with sufficient permissions to the Sitecore Admin section; unauthenticated exploitation is not possible.
  • ·The vulnerability affects Sitecore XP prior to version 9.1.1; the specific tested version is Sitecore 8.0 Revision 150802.
