Multiple vulnerabilities in the web-based management interface of Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC) Software could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary SQL injections on an affected device. These vulnerabilities exist due to improper input validation. An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by sending crafted SQL queries to an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to view information that they are not authorized to view, make changes to the system that they are not authorized to make, and execute commands within the underlying operating system that may affect the availability of the device.

Detection & IOCsextracted from sources · hover to see the quote

  • Vulnerability is exploited via crafted SQL queries sent to the web-based management interface of Cisco FMC; monitor for anomalous or malformed SQL input in HTTP requests to the FMC management interface
  • Exploitation requires authentication; focus detection on authenticated sessions making unusual or unexpected SQL-like parameter values in web management interface requests
  • Successful exploitation may result in OS command execution affecting device availability; monitor for unexpected process spawning or system changes originating from the FMC web management process
  • ·Multiple distinct vulnerabilities are tracked under this advisory; Cisco Bug IDs CSCvh03939, CSCvh03949, and CSCvh03955 are all associated — ensure patching covers all three bugs
  • ·Vulnerabilities exist due to improper input validation in the web-based management interface; no workarounds are available — software update is required
