A vulnerability in Cisco SD-WAN Solution Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a buffer overflow on an affected device. The vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted traffic to an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to gain access to information that they are not authorized to access, make changes to the system that they are not authorized to make, and execute commands on an affected system with privileges of the root user.

Detection & IOCsextracted from sources · hover to see the quote
- →Detect crafted traffic sent to Cisco SD-WAN devices that may trigger a buffer overflow due to insufficient input validation; monitor for unexpected root-level command execution originating from network-facing SD-WAN processes. ↗
- →Reference Cisco Bug ID CSCvt11538 when querying Cisco TAC, PSIRT feeds, or internal ticketing systems to correlate events related to this vulnerability. ↗
- ·The vulnerability is exploitable by an unauthenticated, remote attacker, meaning no credentials are required — perimeter controls alone are insufficient if SD-WAN data-plane ports are exposed. ↗
- ·There are no workarounds available; patching via Cisco's released software updates is the only remediation path. ↗
