Multiple vulnerabilities in the web-based management interface of Cisco Small Business RV160, RV160W, RV260, RV260P, and RV260W VPN Routers could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary code as the root user on an affected device. These vulnerabilities exist because HTTP requests are not properly validated. An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by sending a crafted HTTP request to the web-based management interface of an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to remotely execute arbitrary code on the device.

- →Exploit vector targets the web-based management interface via crafted HTTP requests from an unauthenticated remote attacker; monitor for anomalous/malformed HTTP requests to the management interface of Cisco RV160/RV160W/RV260/RV260P/RV260W routers ↗
- →Successful exploitation results in remote code execution as root; alert on unexpected outbound connections or process spawning from the router management process ↗
- →No authentication is required to exploit; any HTTP request to the management interface from an external/untrusted source should be treated as high-risk on affected devices ↗
- ·Vulnerability root cause is improper validation of HTTP requests; ensure web-based management interface is not exposed to untrusted networks as a compensating control ↗
- ·Affected devices span multiple product lines: RV160, RV160W, RV260, RV260P, and RV260W; ensure detection/patching coverage includes all variants. Cisco Bug IDs: CSCvw13908, CSCvw13917, CSCvw19718 ↗
