Detection & IOCsextracted from sources · hover to see the quote

  • The vulnerability is in the SSL VPN functionality of Cisco RV340 (and related RV series) routers; exploit traffic targets the SSL VPN service with no authentication required and works over the Internet — monitor for unauthenticated inbound connections to the SSL VPN interface
  • Successful exploitation results in a reverse root shell from the device; detect unexpected outbound shell/reverse-shell connections originating from Cisco RV-series router management IPs
  • Affected firmware versions start at 1.0.03.15 and above on RV340 (and likely other RV series); inventory devices running these firmware versions as priority patching/detection targets
  • ·The default SSL VPN configuration is exploitable with no authentication required, meaning devices with out-of-box SSL VPN enabled are immediately at risk without any additional misconfiguration
  • ·Only the RV340 was directly tested with the Metasploit module, but other RV series routers (RV160, RV260, RV345) are expected to be vulnerable and exploitable with the same approach
