Detection & IOCsextracted from sources · hover to see the quote

  • Detect unauthenticated network-based attacks targeting PEAP servers by monitoring for specially crafted malicious PEAP packets sent over the network to NPS (Network Policy Server) hosts.
  • Scope detection to Windows Servers running NPS with a network policy configured that allows PEAP — these are the only systems that negotiate PEAP and are therefore exposed.
  • ·Attack surface is limited to Windows Servers running NPS with PEAP configured as an allowed EAP type in a network policy. Disabling PEAP as an allowed EAP type eliminates exposure.
  • ·Microsoft rates this as 'Exploitation More Likely' despite no public exploit or confirmed in-the-wild exploitation at time of advisory publication.
