Detection & IOCsextracted from sources · hover to see the quote

  • Attack vector is network-based; detect anomalous or malformed PEAP packets sent to a Windows NPS (Network Policy Server) over the network from unauthenticated sources
  • Scope detection to Windows servers running NPS with a network policy that permits PEAP as an allowed EAP type — these are the only exploitable targets
  • ·Attack surface is limited to Windows NPS servers with PEAP configured as an allowed EAP type in a network policy. Servers not running NPS or not permitting PEAP are not exploitable.
  • ·To eliminate the attack surface without patching, remove PEAP as an allowed EAP type from all NPS network policies.
