The Telenium Online Web Application is vulnerable due to a PHP endpoint accessible to unauthenticated network users that improperly handles user-supplied input. This vulnerability occurs due to the insecure termination of a regular expression check within the endpoint. Because the input is not correctly validated or sanitized, an unauthenticated attacker can inject arbitrary operating system commands through a crafted HTTP request, leading to remote code execution on the server in the context of the web application service account.

Detection & IOCsextracted from sources · hover to see the quote

  • Target a PHP endpoint accessible to unauthenticated network users in the Telenium Online Web Application; exploit vector is a crafted HTTP request containing OS command injection payloads
  • The injection point is a PHP endpoint with an insecurely terminated regular expression check — look for HTTP requests to PHP endpoints with input that bypasses regex termination (e.g., use of '$' instead of '\z' in PHP regex, allowing newline bypass)
  • Monitor for unauthenticated HTTP requests to Telenium Online Web Application PHP endpoints that contain shell metacharacters or command separators (e.g., ;, |, &&, newline) in user-supplied parameters
  • Affected versions are Telenium Online Web Application 8.4.21 and prior; flag any such version exposed on the network
  • ·No known public exploitation or proof-of-concept has been reported at time of advisory publication; no specific PHP endpoint path, parameter name, or payload pattern has been publicly disclosed
