A flaw was found in .NET where uncontrolled resource allocation can be exploited by an unauthorized attacker over a network. This vulnerability allows the attacker to exhaust available resources, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. The lack of limits or throttling mechanisms enables an attacker to disrupt the availability of the affected system.

## Executive summary
Microsoft is releasing this security advisory to provide information about a vulnerability in .NET XML processing (System.Security.Cryptography.Xml, System.Xml). This advisory also provides guidance on what developers can do to update their applications to remove this vulnerability.
A denial of service vulnerability exists in .NET 8, .NET 9, and .NET 10 related to XML processing. An attacker can exploit XML encryption handling in XML parsing to cause excessive resource consumption or application crash.

This patch Tuesday includes a staggering 622 vulnerabilities, not including another 427 vulnerabilities in Chromium, affecting Microsoft's Edge browser. 62 of the vulnerabilities are rated critical. One was disclosed before today, and two have already been exploited.
